A 38-year-old man was recently arrested in Louisiana based on allegations that he raped four different women. The alleged rape crimes are said to have taken place in a Dallas, Texas neighborhood. Police claim that a total of nine different women were attacked this past summer. Police have accused the arrested man of committing the attacks.
Police arrested the man while he was staying in a motel outside the state of Texas. Investigators claim to have linked the man’s DNA to four different sexual assault events in Dallas, and they have accused him of committing even more. In addition to rape charges, police have accused the man of committing armed robbery with a handgun. They say that the man would point his handgun at women, lead them to a hidden area, steal their valuables and then sexually assault them.
The accused man in this case was previously charged with rape in or about the early 1990s. However, the charges were dropped when his accuser was struck dead by lightning. In addition, he previously served more than a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of a robbery charge.
According to neighbors, the arrested man worked as a crime-watch patrol volunteer in a Dallas, Texas neighborhood. He worked patrolling streets multiple times each week and neighbors say that they never suspected the man had any kind of criminal record. In many cases of rape allegations, prosecutors will try to use the accused past against him. However, just because an individual was convicted of a crime in the past does not mean that he is guilty of the current allegations. In all cases, no matter how serious the allegations, a Texas resident will maintain his innocence in the eyes of the court until and only if convicted by a jury of his peers.
