Officers with the Plano Police Department have charged a 45-year-old maintenance man with capital murder in the death of an 81-year-old woman. The man is also facing charges of attempted murder and robbery for attacks that were committed on two other elderly women.

According to the police, officers investigated the man after receiving suspicious person and suspicious death calls at a senior-living apartment complex in Plano. During the investigation, officers state that they found evidence linking the man to the 81-year-old woman’s death.

The man was also charged with breaking into a 91-year-old woman’s apartment and smothering her with a pillow until she was unconscious. Officers said that they are reviewing more than 750 Dallas-area cases involving attacks on and deaths of elderly women who lived alone. The 81-year-old woman was found dead in her bed. Her lipstick was smeared across her face, and there were also lipstick smears on her pillow. Officers stated that this indicated that she was likely suffocated with her pillow. The man was already wanted for allegedly breaking into the home of a 93-year-old woman and attempting to smother her with her pillow before robbing her home.

Violent crimes convictions can result in long prison sentences. If the cases are for capital murder, convictions may result in life in prison or death. People who are facing charges of committing violent crimes may want to get experienced legal representation as soon as possible. Attorneys may try to secure the best possible sentences for their clients. In murder cases, they may work to avoid the death penalty if it is on the table.
