Texas veteran faces securities fraud for stockbroking firm

At least one individual familiar with an army veteran who is facing criminal charges expressed surprise at the accusations. This veteran is the founder and CEO of a Texas-based stockbroker business. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) allege that he was never actually licensed to perform that type of job. Following the securities fraud charges, the SEC froze his assets.

Apparent bank fraud ring indicted on federal charges

Federal authorities in Texas recently broke up what they say was a relatively elaborate fraud scheme. A total of 16 people were indicted following arrests, and they have been accused of committing bank fraud to the tune of $1.3 million. Those arrested face a combined total of 76 counts of federal charges.

Fourteen individuals were recently arrested and charged with violating the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization Act in regards to drug trafficking, extortion and murder. Five of the individuals also face charges of Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering, and two other individuals have been accused of conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance. Each person faces a significant amount of time in federal prison if convicted of these RICO crimes.

Several dentists charged of Medicaid fraud; none convicted so far

With over half a million dollars paid out for what may have been unnecessary procedures, several dentists in Texas have been accused of committing Medicaid fraud, although none of have actually been convicted.
