Texas woman charged with drunk driving in deadly crash

On Behalf of | Oct 17, 2013 | Uncategorized

The process of getting pulled over and arrested for drunk driving can be demeaning and demoralizing. Not only that, but the potential punishments faced by those accused of drunk driving are serious and can have lasting consequences. Just an accusation and arrest, without a conviction, can cause Texas residents to lose their jobs, create marital problems, and damage their reputations.

Recently, a woman was arrested and charged with drunk driving after being involved in a deadly accident. According to police she was driving the wrong way down the freeway early on Tuesday morning, allegedly causing the crash. The accident occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m.

Police claim that the woman, who is 26 years of age, drove the wrong way up onto an exit ramp. She then crashed into the side of another vehicle, say police. A passenger in the other vehicle, who was 30 years of age, was transported to the hospital for treatment; however, doctors were not able to save her and she was pronounced deceased at the emergency facility.

Allegedly, the woman who caused the accident showed indications of intoxication. After her minor injuries were treated at the hospital, police arrested her and charged her with intoxicated manslaughter. Any Texas resident who is accused of drunk driving will have the ability to defend him or herself in court. While every case is different, it may be possible to get more serious charges, such as manslaughter, dropped or dismissed in order to lessen the threat of jail time and other serious punishments should a conviction be obtained.
