Texas man in need of criminal defense after DWI arrest

On Behalf of | Jan 4, 2017 | Uncategorized

The holidays are a busy time for police, and DWI incidents are among the most common infractions seen. One particular DWI arrest turned into much more after an accident in central Texas. The driver of the vehicle is now likely focused on his criminal defense as he faces multiple charges filed in the wake of the collision.

Police in Brownwood responded to an accident on the morning of Dec. 24. A van had collided with a utility pole and was apparently abandoned following the accident. An officer was able to connect the license plate with the owner and proceeded to the registered address. The owner of the van, a 30-year-old man, was found in an apartment along with his three minor children.

It is alleged the man had forced his wife out of the van after she placed them in the vehicle in an attempt to get away from her husband. He collided with the pole, and then left the vehicle, taking the children with him. The children were allegedly injured in the accident, and the wife apparently showed signs of having been in an altercation. She claims to have been kicked in the face. The man was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, DWI with a child under 15 and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

When charges pile up, it can create a difficult situation for the accused. Knowing where to begin the formulation of a defense strategy can be confusing. Perhaps the best first move may be to contact a criminal defense lawyer experienced with complex cases in the state of Texas.
