Drunk driving suspected re fatal Texas accident

On Behalf of | Jun 12, 2015 | Uncategorized

Following allegations of causing a fatal accident, police arrested a man upon his release from a Texas hospital. He faces allegations of intoxication manslaughter, a charge that could land him behind jail for up to 30 years if convicted. It is currently not known if the other charges he faces include any other drunk driving allegations.

Police accused the man of driving east in the westbound lanes of Interstate-10 just prior to striking another vehicle. Another vehicle was traveling west on the same roadway, and the two collided head on. Both vehicles caught fire, and it is strongly believed that the victim died immediately after impact.

The alleged wrong-way driver had to be airlifted to the hospital where he was initially listed as being in serious condition. Texas police have since booked him into the local jail. Aside from intoxication manslaughter, he is also facing several other criminal charges, although exactly what they are was not made immediately clear.

A second-degree felony is a serious matter, and even if a person does not serve jail time for a conviction, he or she could still be saddled with $10,000 in fines. Preparing to handle drunk driving allegations such as this in a timely manner can be instrumental in determining what course of action would likely garner the most favorable outcome possible for the defendant. A thorough review of the charges and evidence alongside his counsel will likely prove to be beneficial to the process and might help lead to a more comprehensive and solid foundation for his defense.
