A man who was employed by the Dallas Police Department for a period of five years was recently arrested. The Texas arrest came shortly after the officer’s resignation over sex crimes allegations. The arrest affidavit states that the officer detained and raped a woman in Sept. 2013.
Allegedly, the officer detained both a man and woman on the day the incident occurred. Police claim that the officer told the man to leave, but asked the woman to sit back down in his patrol car. After the woman began to cry, the officer is alleged to have told her that she will not need to go to jail if she does what he says. The affidavit says that the officer then proceeded to drive his vehicle to a secluded location where he raped the woman.
According to police, the victim reported the alleged rape back in Oct. 2013. The officer was next placed on leave, pending completion of an investigation into the report. Another investigation began in late January, at which time the officer was interviewed by internal affairs. The officer then submitted a resignation letter, was arrested and subsequently taken to jail. His bond has been set at $25,000.
Understandably, sex crimes allegations involving rape can ruin a Texas resident’s career, and they can put that person behind bars for many years if he or she is convicted in a court of law. That said, convicting an individual of rape can only be accomplished after the prosecution proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Unless that occurs, the accused remains innocent of the allegations before the court and will have every reasonable opportunity available to defend him or herself against the charges.
